Netflix withdraws Ajith Kumar's film "Good Bad Ugly" following a court order due to unauthorized use of Ilaiyaraaja's music tracks.

Netflix has taken down the film "Good Bad Ugly" from its platform following a court order regarding the use of Ilaiyaraaja's songs in the film. The Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam version of the film was released on Netflix on May 8, after its theatrical release in April.

The court order, passed by Justice N Senthilkumar, prohibits the exhibition of the film with Ilaiyaraaja's songs "Ottha Ruba Tharen", "En Jodi Manja Kuruvi", and "Ilamai Idho". The music rights for these songs were acquired by the production company Lahari Music, but it seems Ilaiyaraaja was not consulted for their use in the film.

Ilaiyaraaja, a Padma Vibhushan awardee, sued the producers for using his songs without permission. He demanded a compensation of Rs 5 crore and asked the producers to remove his songs from the film.

However, the producers, Mythri Movie Makers, claim to have followed legal procedures in obtaining permissions for the songs used in the film. They have stated that they have obtained No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the music labels.

Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar, producer of Mythri Movie Makers, made a statement to Hindustan Times, saying, "We have followed all protocols and obtained the necessary permissions for the songs used in the film."

Despite this, the removal of "Good Bad Ugly" from Netflix seems to be due to copyright infringement concerns. No official statement has been made by Netflix regarding the removal of the film from its platform. The producers, Mythri Movie Makers, have not yet issued an official statement regarding the removal of the film from Netflix either.

It is worth noting that "Good Bad Ugly" performed well at the box office and collected almost Rs 250 crore worldwide. The film's removal from Netflix may impact its viewership and potential earnings.

The court order does not seem to have affected the permission granted to the producers for the songs used in "Good Bad Ugly". It remains to be seen how this dispute will be resolved and whether the film will be reinstated on Netflix.
