Netflix viewers have a limited time to stream Cate Blanchett's critically acclaimed series, boasting an 86% Rotten Tomatoes rating and based on real events.
In the critically acclaimed Netflix series, "Stateless," Cate Blanchett, Yvonne Strahovski, and Jai Courtney star alongside each other. This six-part drama was co-created by Tony Ayres, Cate Blanchett, and Elise McCredie.
Set in an Australian detention centre, "Stateless" tells the story of four characters, with Yvonne Strahovski's character, Sofie Werner, taking centre stage. Sofie, a flight attendant of German descent, is detained in a remote detention centre after providing authorities with a false identity.
The series is inspired by a true story, drawing parallels with the real-life experiences of Cornelia Rau, a German-Australian woman who was transported against her will to a detention centre and detained for 10 months despite being an Australian resident suffering from mental illness. Cornelia Rau's experiences served as the inspiration for the character Sofie Werner.
Asher Keddie plays bureaucrat Clare Kowitz, who is under pressure to sort out a public relations crisis when human rights abuses are leaked to the press. Fayssal Bazzi plays asylum seeker Ameer, who escapes from Afghanistan with his family, has his money stolen by people smugglers, and gets separated from his wife and children.
"Stateless" is hugely topical given the current political focus on immigration. The series was originally released in 2020 and has received high praise, with an 81% critics rating and an 86% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Please note that "Stateless" is not available on Netflix's cheapest plan and is not available on an ad-supported Netflix plan in the US and UK. The series will be leaving Netflix on June 25, 2022, so be sure to catch it while you can.

"Stateless" is a powerful and thought-provoking drama that sheds light on important issues. Don't miss out on this must-watch series before it leaves Netflix.
