Netflix unveils a sinister sneak peek at their upcoming adaptation of 'Frankenstein', promising a chilling and spectral adventure ahead

Guillermo del Toro's highly anticipated adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel, "Frankenstein," is set to premiere on Netflix in November 2025. This gothic science fiction horror film promises to deliver a fresh take on the timeless story.

At the heart of the story is Dr. Victor Frankenstein, portrayed by Oscar Isaac. The brilliant but egotistical scientist embarks on a dangerous experiment that results in the creation of a living creature. The creature is brought to life by Jacob Elordi, who takes on the role after Andrew Garfield had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts.

The story delves deep into family dynamics and dysfunctional relationships, a theme also present in del Toro's film Pinocchio. The creature grapples with existential questions, such as "Why did you make me?" and the suffering that follows.

Other key characters include Elizabeth Lavenza, Victor's fiancée, played by Mia Goth. She is also the fiancée of Frankenstein's younger brother and serves as a shared fixation between Victor and the creature. Charles Dance portrays Leopold Frankenstein, Victor's father, whose coldness impacts Victor's indifference toward the creature.

Christoph Waltz plays Harlander, an arms dealer funding Frankenstein's experiments during the Crimean War. Supporting roles include Felix Kammerer as Frankenstein’s younger brother, David Bradley as a blind man who shows kindness to the creature, Lars Mikkelsen as Captain Anderson, Ralph Ineson as Professor Krempe, and Burn Gorman as Fritz.

The visual style of the film uses saturated tones and draws from 1960s horror aesthetics for certain character looks, specifically Elizabeth's. Del Toro considers this adaptation a continuation and personal reimagining rather than a direct remake of previous Frankenstein films or Shelley's novel, blending elements from various interpretations and adding his unique vision.

In the images released, Mia Goth is seen wearing a stunning blue outfit as Elizabeth Lavenza, while Jacob Elordi portrays Frankenstein's monster with a distinctive appearance featuring patchwork greenish skin, sewn scars, and a hooded outfit.

Get ready for a chilling journey when Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein" premieres on Netflix in November 2025.

Engaging in this cinematic exploration is not just about watching a movie or TV show, but diving into a world of entertainment that combines drama, horror, and science fiction elements. The critically acclaimed director, Guillermo del Toro, has crafted a mesmerizing interpretation of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein," promising a unique blend of movies-and-tv that transcends the traditional narrative.
