Netanyahu Warns of 'Forceful' Action if Hamas Rejects Trump's Peace Plan

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that Israel could take 'forceful' action if necessary, with US President Donald Trump's backing, if Hamas rejects the recently proposed 20-point Middle East peace plan. The plan, which has been welcomed by the Palestinian Authority, includes the release of all hostages within 72 hours, followed by a phased Israeli army withdrawal and a ceasefire. Several Arab states, including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan, have pledged their support for the initiative.

Netanyahu, under US pressure, agreed to Trump's plan, which also involves an international committee led by Trump and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair administering the Gaza Strip. The plan aims to end the long-standing conflict and has been described as a 'unique opportunity' by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, who is planning a trip to the Middle East region to initiate a broader peace process. Netanyahu has already apologized to Qatar's ruler for an Israeli attack in Doha that resulted in a Qatari citizen's death, potentially paving the way for improved relations with Qatar and other Arab states. Hamas, however, has not yet agreed to the plan but has committed to reviewing it 'in good faith'.

With the support of numerous Arab states and the Palestinian Authority, Trump's 20-point Middle East peace plan has the potential to bring an end to the long-standing conflict. However, the plan's success hinges on Hamas' response and Israel's willingness to follow through on its commitments. The international community, led by the US and Germany, will play a crucial role in facilitating this process.
