Neuss State Election Results: CDU Takes the Lead, Greens Gain Support
In the recent state election held in Rhein-Kreis Neuss, North Rhine-Westphalia, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) emerged as the clear winner, reflecting a trend seen in many urban and suburban areas across the region.
According to the preliminary results, the CDU secured 41.54% of the votes, followed closely by the Social Democratic Party (SPD) with 22.85%. The Greens, which were once viewed with skepticism nationwide, saw a significant increase in support, securing over 16% of the vote in Rhein-Kreis Neuss.
Despite this growth, the Greens did not manage to win any direct mandates in the three constituencies of Rhein-Kreis Neuss. The voter distribution in these constituencies favored the CDU, with Lutz Lienenkämper (CDU) winning the direct mandate in constituency 47 (Rhein-Kreis Neuss III), and Heike Troles (CDU) winning in constituency 46 (Rhein-Kreis Neuss II). Dr. Jörg Geerlings (CDU) also won the direct mandate in constituency 45 (Rhein-Kreis Neuss I).
The SPD, however, came in second place in all three constituencies. Arno Jansen and Birgit Burdag (SPD) received the second-highest number of votes in constituencies 45 and 46 respectively. Marcel Knuppertz (SPD) also achieved a strong performance in constituency 47.
The FDP, which has traditionally been a part of the coalition in North Rhine-Westphalia, experienced a loss in the state election. They did not win any direct mandates in the three constituencies of Rhein-Kreis Neuss, and failed to reach the necessary threshold to continue the coalition.
The Left and The Alternative for Germany (AfD) also failed to win any direct mandates in Rhein-Kreis Neuss. The voter turnout was 57.6%, which is 10% lower than five years ago. A total of 189,844 people in Rhein-Kreis Neuss cast their votes for the new state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia.
While the specific political trends in Neuss are not yet fully detailed, the results indicate a continued support for the CDU, a growing interest in the Greens, and a strong performance by the SPD. For a more precise analysis, official election data from the Landeswahlleiter NRW or credible political analysis sources for the 2022 election would be needed.
The ongoing political trends in Rhein-Kreis Neuss, as reflected in the state election results, show continued support for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), an increasing interest in the Greens, and a strong performance by the Social Democratic Party (SPD) in policy-and-legislation matters. This election places politics in the general-news spotlight, as the CDU, SPD, and Greens shape the future political landscape of North Rhine-Westphalia.
