Attacking Trump Tunes: Neil Young's Latest Folkrock Masterpiece, "Talking To The Trees"
Singer-songwriter Neil Young unveils fresh music collection - Neil Young, renowned for his folk-rock music, unveils his latest album to the public
In a career spanning over six decades and numerous albums, Neil Young has remained a force to be reckoned with in the realm of folkrock music. At 80, the Canadian-born musician shows no signs of slowing down, with his new album, "Talking To The Trees," out now. This pioneering work marks Young's first collaboration with his new band, The Chrome Hearts. The LP features the band members delivering guitar, bass, organ, drums, and vocals, with Young penning the lyrics and playing guitar, harp, piano, and vibraphone.
The new album delivers the quintessential Neil Young sound, and his lyrical prowess remains undeterred. Take a stroll through his political minefield as he lashes out at the US government, particularly the Trump administration, echoing his sentiment during Trump's initial term. "Big Change," the album's first single, was dropped mere days before Trump's inauguration. In "Let's Roll Again," Young urges the American auto industry to ramp up electric car production, cautioning against backing Tesla, the electric car company endorsed by tech billionaire Elon Musk, who is a known Trump supporter: "If you're a fascist, then get a Tesla."
Following the album's release, Young and The Chrome Hearts are set to embark on a world tour, starting with European cities such as Berlin (July 3) and Mönchengladbach (July 4), before making their way to the USA and Canada.

Despite his enthusiasm for the tour, Neil Young has harbored concerns about being able to return to the United States after his European stint. In a post on his website, he wrote about the possibility of being denied entry or imprisoned upon re-entry: "If I'm making music in Europe and speaking about Donald J. Trump, I could be one of those who return to America and face detention or imprisonment on a cement floor with an aluminum blanket." Young, who boasts dual citizenship for Canada and the USA, has repeatedly denounced Trump as the worst president in US history.
While Trump's administration is known for increased border controls and immigration-related controversies, US citizens like Young cannot legally be barred from re-entry. Nevertheless, Young's concerns reflect a larger issue, amplifying fears about the potential suppression of free speech in the US. Prior to Trump's term, his wife, Daryl Hannah, faced complications with her US citizenship process, which may have added to Young's apprehensions[1][2].
