In a surprising turn of events, a peaceful community near Thompson, Pennsylvania, was rocked by a violent shooting incident on Tuesday morning. The tragedy began when state troopers Joseph Perechinsky and William Jenkins responded to a call about gunfire originating from the home of Lori Wasko, following a report from Wasko's boyfriend. Upon arrival, they were ambushed by Carmine Faino, 61, who fatally shot Wasko, 57, outside her home and then opened fire on the responding troopers.
Faino, armed with a semiautomatic rifle, fired dozens of rounds, injuring Troopers Perechinsky and Jenkins and an EMT. The gunfire also targeted a police drone and an emergency worker’s vehicle, forcing it off the road.
Despite his severe injuries, Trooper Perechinsky displayed remarkable courage. He applied a tourniquet to Trooper Jenkins to stem the bleeding, a testament to his quick thinking and dedication to duty. A third trooper was instrumental in rescuing Perechinsky and Jenkins from the dangerous scene.
