Needed: Volunteers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held in North Texas
Volunteering for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in North Texas offers a unique opportunity to be a part of one of the world's biggest sporting events. Dan Hunt, one of the World Cup Organizing Committee Co-Chairs, shared his unforgettable experience of volunteering in the 1994 World Cup, describing it as "unbelievable".
Requirements
To apply for volunteering, individuals must be at least 18 years old at the time of application. Applicants are required to commit to a minimum of 8 shifts, including training sessions, and be available for the duration of the tournament, from June 11 to July 19, 2026. Fluent English is a must, with additional languages being advantageous. Volunteers must also attend an in-person group recruitment event and pass a background check, as well as comply with the entry requirements of the United States.
Selection Process
Interested individuals can join the FIFA Volunteer Community online and complete the application form, followed by an online assessment highlighting their suitability and motivation to volunteer. Candidates are then required to attend the necessary group recruitment event(s). Once selected, volunteers will undergo mandatory training starting in March 2026.
Roles and Benefits
Volunteers will be assigned to various roles such as fan operations, ticketing, ceremonies, and support at stadiums, airports, hotels, and training sites. As a token of appreciation, volunteers will receive an official uniform, meals during shifts, a certificate, recognition items, and the opportunity for skills development.
Application and Details
Applications can be made online starting August 2025 through the official FIFA World Cup volunteer website. Early application is recommended as training and tryouts start in fall 2025 and training kicks off in March 2026. Use code COD26 on your application to track North Texas volunteers (this does not guarantee selection but is for data purposes).
The 2026 World Cup is expected to have a significant economic impact in North Texas, with estimates suggesting it could generate between $1.5 to $2.1 billion. In addition to volunteering, the World Cup is also estimated to create thousands of jobs locally.
