nearly a quarter of American adults claim Trump's policies have positively impacted them, according to a recent AP-NORC survey

In a recent AP-NORC Centre for Public Affairs Research poll, President Donald Trump's policies and job performance have received generally low approval ratings. The findings, released in July 2025, indicate a critical stance by the public towards the President's performance and policy impact.

The survey reveals that approximately 75% of Americans believe Trump's policies have not helped them, with about half stating that his policies have "done more to hurt" them since his second term began six months ago. Conversely, only around a quarter of respondents feel that Trump's policies have helped them.

Moreover, Trump failed to earn majority approval on every major issue surveyed, including the economy, government spending, trade, taxes, immigration, health care, and his handling of the Middle East conflict. Specifically, 43% of U.S. adults approve of Trump's handling of immigration, 40% approve of his overall job performance, and around 40% approve of his handling of the economy.

The poll also indicates that a majority of Democrats and about half of independents view Trump's policies negatively, and even many Republicans do not feel positively impacted by his policies.

While about 40% approve of Trump's overall job performance, fewer believe he understands the problems facing ordinary Americans. However, about half of respondents see him as somewhat capable of getting things done, especially after his recent budget bill.

The budget bill, which includes Medicaid cuts leading to 11.8 million more Americans becoming uninsured and adding $3.3 trillion to the national debt, has raised concerns among many Americans.

The AP-NORC poll was conducted from July 10-14, with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points for adults overall. These findings suggest that President Trump's policies and job performance continue to face significant criticism from a broad segment of the U.S. population.

  1. The poll findings indicate that a large majority of Americans believe President Trump's policies, particularly on economy, health care, and immigration, have not helped them, with many stating they have been hurt by these policies.
  2. Despite reservations about the President's understanding of ordinary Americans' problems, about half of respondents view him as somewhat capable of getting things done, as demonstrated by his recent budget bill.
  3. The budget bill, which includes controversial Medicaid cuts leading to increased uninsured Americans and added national debt, has raised concerns among many Americans, fueling criticism of Trump's policies in the realm of general news and politics.
  4. In the realm of policy-and-legislation and war-and-conflicts, President Trump continues to receive low approval ratings, with Democrats, independents, and even some Republicans expressing negativity towards his approach to the Middle East conflict.
