The Monsoon Session of the Indian Parliament, held from July 21 to August 21, 2025, is set to be a significant one, with 15 Bills on the agenda, including 8 new Bills and 7 pending Bills for consideration and passing.

The session, which commenced on Tuesday, saw a high-level parliamentary party meeting at the Parliament House complex. Attendance was reportedly made mandatory for all NDA MPs, and the meeting marked the first such NDA gathering of the ongoing Monsoon Session and the second since the NDA government came into power since 2024.

The 8 new Bills expected to be tabled include the Income-tax Bill, aimed at simplifying direct tax laws, and the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025. Other notable Bills include the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025.

The session is also expected to focus on the introduction of a new digital attendance system for Members of Parliament to enhance transparency, the extension of President’s Rule in Manipur, and the impeachment motion against Justice Yashwant Verma relating to alleged financial irregularities.

Several important Bills such as the Insurance (Amendment) Bill and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) Amendment Bill are notably absent this session. Ongoing disagreements in the Monsoon Session are primarily fueled by opposition demands for a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.

The Monsoon Session has seen 11 sittings without the passage of a single Bill, but five pending Bills are expected to be tabled in both Houses, potentially leading to a turbulent day in Parliament.

The session is scheduled to end on August 13, but the government aims to push major reforms and policy updates across sectors during this period. The meeting discussed national security issues, including the objectives and achievements of Operation Sindoor, for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi was felicitated by members of the NDA.

The NDA meeting also reportedly discussed the nomination process for the Vice President's election, which begins on August 7. The NDA is expected to finalise its choice for Vice President smoothly, although no official names have yet been confirmed.

The government asserted that the military attack on terror sites in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack on April 22 brought the neighboring country to its knees. The opposition continues to protest loudly during the Monsoon Session, with the ongoing disagreements adding to the political tension in the Parliament.
