In an exhilarating game six against the New York Knicks, the Indiana Pacers secured a well-deserved spot in the NBA Finals. With standout performances from top scorer Pascal Siakam (31 points) and Tyrese Haliburton (21 points, 13 assists), the Pacers clinched a decisive 125-108 victory, sending them to the big league's final stage.

Indiana will be competing in the NBA Finals for the second time in their history, having lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2000. The best-of-seven final series is about to begin on Thursday in Oklahoma City. Center Hartenstein might add another feather to his cap by becoming the second German (after Dirk Nowitzki in 2011) to win the championship.

In a tough-fought game six, the Rick Carlisle-coached team, who clinched the championship with the Dallas Mavericks 14 years ago, managed to secure a strong third quarter (34:23) and kept the Knicks at bay. Haliburton, who came close to the title but fell short against the Boston Celtics in the 2024 Eastern Conference Finals, shared his thoughts: "We were in the same position last year and didn't make it, and we've worked our asses off as a team to get back here. Our work has just begun."

Carlisle echoed his player's sentiment, "It's not the time to pop the champagne. At this point in the season, two teams are facing off with the same goal. It's do or die. We're aware of the magnitude."

The Thunder concluded the regular season as the league's top team with 68 wins out of 82 games and is spearheaded by league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Pacers, who secured the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, lost just four games in the playoffs on their way to the final - much like their upcoming opponents.

Although the league doesn't have a "second German NBA team" in this Finals showdown between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder, the spotlight is on the German player Isaiah Hartenstein, who might make history by becoming the second German after Dirk Nowitzki to win the NBA title.
