Minnesota Timberwolves Sign Johnny Juzang to Minimum-Salary Training Camp Contract

The Minnesota Timberwolves have added another player to their roster, as Johnny Juzang has agreed to a one-year minimum-salary training camp contract for the 2025-26 season. The deal, which is non-guaranteed, allows Juzang to compete for one of the team's final roster spots during training camp.

Juzang spent his first three NBA seasons with the Utah Jazz, where he logged career highs in several categories during the 2024-25 season. In 64 games (18 starts), he averaged 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 19.8 minutes per game. He also matched his career high in scoring with 27 points in a game against the Washington Wizards on March 5, 2025.

However, Juzang was waived by the Jazz in June 2025 before his $2.84 million salary for 2025-26 became guaranteed.

With Juzang's addition, the Timberwolves' training camp roster now stands at 20 players. He will be competing for one of the few remaining regular-season roster spots (generally 15 players), and making the roster would reduce the Timberwolves’ roster flexibility. If he does not make the final roster, he would be waived, and his contract would be voided without guarantees.

The Timberwolves have already made several moves this offseason, including re-signing Julius Randle and Naz Reid, and losing Nickeil Alexander-Walker in a sign-and-trade transaction with the Atlanta Hawks. Bobby Marks of ESPN is a source for the information about the Timberwolves' salary commitment for the 2026-27 season, which includes over $110 million in salary committed to starters Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and Rudy Gobert.

The Timberwolves have also re-signed forward Naz Reid to a five-year, $125 million deal that includes a player option in 2029-30. They have also acquired center Rocco Zikarsky's rights in a multi-team trade and signed him to a two-way contract. Additionally, the Timberwolves have re-signed Joe Ingles to a contract extension.

As the 2025-26 season approaches, Juzang's minimum-salary training camp deal with the Timberwolves is a non-guaranteed contract giving him a chance to earn a roster spot with minimal salary cap impact initially, contingent on his making the final team after training camp.

  1. Johnny Juzang's addition to the Minnesota Timberwolves roster marks a potential opportunity for him to rebound from his departure from the Utah Jazz and prove his worth in NBA sports, as he competes for a final roster spot during training camp.
  2. Although Juzang managed to rebound with career highs while with the Jazz during the 2024-25 season, his NBA career is not fully guaranteed yet, as he signed a minimum-salary training camp contract with the Timberwolves for the 2025-26 season, a deal that could assist him in securing a regular-season roster spot if he performs well.
  3. As the 2025-26 season approaches, the Minnesota Timberwolves' NBA roster will watch closely as Juzang attempts to make the most of his non-guaranteed contract and establish himself as a viable basketball player, contributing to the team's success on the court.
