NBA Postseason Wagering: Don't Overlook Timberwolves' Potential Impact

Dickhead here, let's dive into the latest sports action!

Welp, the Lakers got their asses handed to them by the T-Wolves, losing the series 4-1. I thought I'd check out Zach Cohen's preview (yeah, I know, I read emails more often than you keep up with sports, sue me) and found that he recommended the T-Wolves from the get-go. So I gave ol' Zach a call and asked him if the series went according to his prediction.

You wanna know what he said? Wishful expectations on the Lakers. They had some good stretches, especially on offense, but their trade for Mark Williams showed they were missing a big piece. Pelinka knew they needed a center, and they'll address that this offseason to be a real contender next year. Oh, and the T-Wolves? They've been a top-5 team since mid-December that got overlooked because of a slow start that made that Towns-for-Randle swap look worse than it was. I expect them to make quick work of their second-round opponent – especially if it's the Warriors.

Now, Mark Williams, who was traded from Charlotte but couldn't pass his physical, posted a smiley face on his feed after the Lakers' loss. Not exactly a friendly gesture, huh?

As for the Warriors, they still gotta beat the Rockets to keep their season alive. They almost blew it with a 3-2 deficit, but Houston held off elimination in Game 5 with a 131-115 rout.

Tonight we've got two Game 6s:

  • The Knicks are trying to close out the Pistons tonight at 7:30 ET on TNT. They currently lead the series 3-2.
  • The Nuggets face the Clippers at 10 ET on TNT, and they've got a 3-2 lead.

So, check back later for Zach's Best Bets and Steve Makinen's Analytics Report. Also, stay tuned for today's selections from the VSiN KillerSports NBA Playoff Challenge.

Now, let's talk about the NHL. The Capitals and Panthers advanced to the second round, and four more teams are gunning for it tonight:

  • Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators, 7 ET on TBS. The Leafs lead 3-2.
  • Vegas Golden Knights at Minnesota Wild, 7:30 ET on ESPN. Vegas leads 3-2.
  • Dallas Stars at Colorado Avalanche, 9:30 ET on TBS. Dallas leads 3-2.
  • Los Angeles Kings at Edmonton Oilers, 10 ET on ESPN. Edmonton leads 3-2.

We've got Brian Davis giving his Best Bets later this morning, along with some estimated scores from Steve Makinen.

Oh, and If you didn't know, this wonderful bit of information is brought to you for the precious year of 2023, and yes, I still use emails from time to time, bitch.
