NBA Parts Ways with David Muoka a Day after Inking Contract, Muoka being a Hong Kong native
Brooklyn Nets Acquire Guard Kobe Bufkin, Waive David Muoka
The Brooklyn Nets have made a move in the NBA, acquiring guard Kobe Bufkin from the Atlanta Hawks in a trade that involved only cash considerations. This trade, which was facilitated by the waiving of David Muoka, occurred after the Nets released the Hongkonger basketball player.
Muoka, a 24-year-old player, had a brief stint with the Nets. He was signed by the team on Monday, but was waived just 24 hours later in New York. The news of his release came on Tuesday, the same day Muoka was in Hong Kong preparing to travel to the US next week.
Interestingly, Muoka is the first Hongkonger to land an NBA deal. Prior to joining the Nets, he was previously signed by the Portland Trail Blazers last October, but was waived by the team on the same day he was signed.
The waiving of Muoka by the Nets created roster space for the trade, allowing them to bring in Bufkin. The trade was completed by the Nets, and Bufkin is now a part of the team.
Muoka's tenure with the Brooklyn Nets was short-lived, but his historic accomplishment as the first Hongkonger to sign an NBA deal will not be forgotten. As for the Nets, they continue to make moves in the NBA, with the acquisition of Bufkin adding another piece to their roster.
