In a series of recent events, the United States has taken aggressive action against boats suspected of drug smuggling from Venezuela.

The operations, which have been announced by US President Donald Trump on his online service Truth Social, have resulted in the alleged killing of several "narco-terrorists" and the sinking of at least three boats. According to Trump, three boats have been taken out by US forces in these operations.

The boat attacked in early September, for instance, was reportedly belonging to the Venezuelan drug gang Tren de Aragua. The attack resulted in the death of eleven people. The exact nature and circumstances of the attacks are not specified. The crew identity of the third ship sunk during the U.S. military operation against the drug smuggler boat in international waters has not been disclosed in the available information.

The US administration accuses Venezuela's president Nicolás Maduro of leading a drug cartel. Maduro, in turn, sees the military threats from the USA as "the greatest threat" to Latin America in a hundred years.

These actions have sparked international controversy, with human rights experts working on behalf of the United Nations condemning the US operations in Venezuela as "extra-judicial executions" and calling on the USA to "withdraw from its lawless 'war on drugs'".

Meanwhile, the Venezuelan military is conducting military maneuvers involving 12 ships, 22 aircraft, and 20 small boats. The US has sent warships to the Caribbean in August, citing the fight against drug cartels, and combat jets have been deployed to the territory of Puerto Rico following threats of invasion from Venezuela.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how these actions will impact the already turbulent relationship between the US and Venezuela. Trump is currently on a state visit to the UK.
