The Global Sumud Fleet, a humanitarian aid fleet, has set sail from Spain and Tunisia with around 50 boats, aiming to deliver much-needed aid to civilians in Gaza amidst the ongoing conflict.

Huseyin Durmaz, coordinator of the Turkish Delegation for the Global Sumud Fleet, has made a statement about the fleet's progress. According to Durmaz, the current number of vessels in the fleet is approximately 50, with Turkey having the highest number of participants, around 50, including Turkish activists on the first boat heading to Gaza.

As of current information, no other delegation has over 30 participants in the Global Sumud Fleet. The fleet departed from Barcelona on Aug. 31 with 22 boats, and an additional 23 boats set sail from Tunisia.

Durmaz has warned that Israeli forces might try to prevent the Global Sumud Fleet from reaching Gaza. He stated that Israeli forces may intervene at various points to reduce the number of boats reaching Gaza. However, Durmaz's goal is to ensure as many vessels as possible make it to Gaza.

The mission of the Global Sumud Fleet is clear: to deliver aid to civilians in Gaza amidst the ongoing conflict. Durmaz has emphasised that even if just two ships reach Gaza, the mission would still be considered a success.

The fleet's ships are expected to converge at predetermined locations in the Mediterranean within one to two days. From there, they will continue their journey towards Gaza, with organisers predicting that the fleet will arrive within roughly two weeks.

However, the journey is not without its challenges. Durmaz has expressed concern about the potential interference from Israeli forces. Nevertheless, the Global Sumud Fleet remains steadfast in its mission to bring much-needed aid to the people of Gaza.
