The Montreal Benava Marathon is set to take place this Sunday, promising an exciting day of running and community spirit. Approximately 32,500 runners will be on the streets over the weekend, participating in either the 21.1km or 42.2km events.

The marathon will traverse the island from east to west, with half-marathon runners heading north-east to reach the finish line at Parc Maisonneuve, while traditional marathon runners will head towards Saint-Laurent Boulevard. The marathon departure will be from Ile Sainte-Helene and the finish line will be at Maisonneuve Park.

For those who wish to cheer for the runners, it's possible to do so from your balcony. Runners will take Notre-Dame Street, bypass La Fontaine Park, and reach Saint-Joseph Boulevard. A dozen locations have been set up along the marathon route for spectators to gather in groups.

On Saturday, during the one, five, and ten-kilometer events, there will be traffic disruptions around Maisonneuve Park. Street closures will be in effect from around 6:30 am until 12:35 pm. The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will boost service on Sunday based on demand, especially around the start and finish line. Waze and Google Maps applications will provide real-time traffic information.

Crossing Saint-Laurent Boulevard or Saint-Joseph Boulevard by car during the marathon will be complicated but not impossible, with "breaches" allowing crossing the course installed. It will be forbidden to park on the marathon route from 10 pm Saturday until 3 pm Sunday.

The work on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel will be paused for the weekend. No information about the next stations on the Blue Line, the presence of the Israel-Premier Tech team, or Rollerblading events was provided in the current paragraph. However, the finish line at Parc Maisonneuve is near a stage where medal ceremonies and artistic performances will take place.

It's worth noting that there will be no strike on Sunday by STM maintenance workers. This means smooth transportation for both runners and spectators.

Lastly, a reminder that the marathon will not have "major works" throughout the metropolis for the weekend. The Montreal Benava Marathon promises to be a memorable event, bringing together runners, spectators, and the city of Montreal.
