Nauryz 2024 Unites Kazakh Culture with Music, Art and Sport

Nauryz, the celebration of renewal and unity, begins on 21 March and runs until 25 March. This annual festival marks the start of a new year for Kazakh people and other Turkic communities across Central Asia. Events this year will include concerts, exhibitions, and traditional sports alongside vibrant cultural performances. The festival kicks off with the 'Az-Nauryz' holiday concert, featuring folk songs, operatic arias, and duets by national composers. Another highlight is the 'Four Truths - One Eternity' performance, which merges modern choreography with ethno-folk music and original compositions.

For music lovers, the 'Sagynysh Sazy' retro concert will revive classic Kazakh songs by legendary composers, performed live with vocals and traditional instruments. The 'Kyz Zhibek' musical also takes centre stage, retelling the timeless story of love, fate, and sacrifice between Kyz Zhibek and Tolegen. Art and craft enthusiasts can explore the 'Master's Heritage: Crafts and Traditions' exhibition, showcasing around 60 artefacts. These include examples of traditional Kazakh life, martial traditions, and intricate jewellery craftsmanship. Meanwhile, the Nauryz Bazaar fair will display new clothing lines, handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, metalwork, and ethno-style souvenirs. Visitors can also enjoy festive concerts, mass competitions in national sports, and performances on traditional Kazakh instruments. Sports fans won't miss the VTB League basketball match, where Parma-M faces Astana Zhastar in a high-energy showdown.

Nauryz 2024 brings together music, art, and sport in a celebration of Kazakh culture. The festival's diverse events—from concerts and exhibitions to traditional competitions—reflect the region's rich heritage. Organisers expect large crowds to join the festivities across the five-day event.
