NATO Gathering in The Hague Takes a Significant Shift in Direction

Trump Rethinks His Game Plan on Putin and Zelensky

Following his powwow with Zelensky in The Hague, Trump has shown a shift in his attitude toward Russia and Ukraine. The White House boss now rates Zelensky as "jolly." On the other hand, Trump has indicated that Putin ought to put an end to the war, emphasizing that lives lose their pulse daily in the fracas, as per the Financial Times.

The publication paints a picture of Trump wrestling with defining his rapport with the heads of Russia and Ukraine for some time.

An eyebrow-raising squabble between Trump and Zelensky in the Oval Office in February 2025 marked one of their worst moments. During his second term, Trump initially aimed at cementing relations with Putin, believing that he was up for discussions.

Even at the NATO summit, Trump pointed out that the Ukraine war was spiraling out of control. Zelensky described their chat as "lengthy and significant."

Trump found their meeting "jolly" but skipped mentioning any discussions about a ceasefire in Ukraine. In a press briefing, Trump promised another phone call with Putin, trying to stop the war yet again.

Trump and Zelensky's chat unfolded amidst the Russian army's summer offensive. According to Konrad Muzyka, director of Rochan Consulting, the Kremlin had launched more drone kamikazes into Ukraine than at any other period during the war by the end of spring 2025.

In June alone, 4342 drone kamikazes were thrown into the battlefield. Moreover, invaders started to make ground, attempting to captivate Pokrovsk and Konstantinovka for the first time since November 2025.

Amid these tussles, Zelensky appealed to Trump for Patriot systems and missiles. The White House hasn't given Kyiv a clear verdict on the matter.
