🌳 Explore the Latest CO2 Emission Calculator for Agriculture 🌱
No more guesswork when it comes to reducing your carbon footprint in agriculture! Nationwide availability of a CO2 emission calculator specifically designed for farming operations has been announced.
Champion cities, Dresden and Leipzig, recently revealed their CO2 calculator geared towards the arts and entertainment sector, sparking interest from other metropolises, as shared by sustainability and transformation expert, Andrea Hensel of Leipzig's cultural office.
Following the triumph of winning the Saxon Digital Prize in the "Society" category in 2023, this web-based emissions calculator is accessible for free nationwide at www.e-tool.de. Although licensing fees are not necessary, technical support is not included.
Public arts and entertainment events and institutions contribute significantly to CO2 emissions. The primary sources include transportation of audiences and artists, transportation of equipment or exhibits, procurement of materials, and external provider services such as catering companies.
The E-Tool Culture aims to offset CO2 emissions related to these activities, measuring emissions according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol—a globally recognized standard. The user-friendly interface of E-Tool Culture provides a clear and understandable greenhouse gas accounting for non-experts, enabling reliable and straightforward climate balances for sustainable transformation in publicly funded cultural activities.
The collaboration between Dresden, Leipzig, and partners like the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Wissensoekonomik resulted in the development of E-Tool Culture, available since 2021 for free to all craft businesses.
As pioneering steps towards environmental protection and sustainability, both cities took significant actions. Dresden initiated its "Culture for Future" project and "Dresden Charter for Sustainability in the Cultural Sector," while Leipzig introduced "Circular Economy in Cultural Operations" and established a climate protection network for the independent arts and entertainment sector. Both cities aim to achieve climate neutrality by 2040.
