County Administrator Visits "Some Were Neighbors" Exhibition at Rhein-Erft-Kreis Police

County Administrator Frank Rock recently paid a visit to the "Some Were Neighbors" exhibition at the central police building in Bergheim-Zieverich. The visit, which took place on September 2, 2020, was part of Rock's ongoing efforts to allow young people to learn about the past actions that have shaped our understanding of democracy.

The exhibition, a traveling one from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, focuses on National Socialism. It has been attracting visitors since its arrival in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, and Rock's visit was on the last visiting day.

Accompanied by a vocational school class from Bergheim, Rock embarked on a one-hour guided tour of the exhibition. The students had the opportunity to learn about our past at the police, with the exhibition being accessible not only to the officers but also to young people.

Rock stated that understanding and protecting democratic values is crucial for their active shaping. He emphasized that the county police department's efforts to make the exhibition accessible to young people align with their goal of educating young people about the importance of democratic values.

Several school classes have already visited the exhibition, and the county police department encourages more to do so. For press inquiries, the department directs to [email protected].

The "Some Were Neighbors" exhibition at the Rhein-Erft-Kreis Police forms part of the extremism prevention work of the county police department. It aims to educate young people about the importance of democratic values, with the department striving to make the impressive images and stories of the exhibition accessible to them.

Thomas Schweinsburg, the head of press and public relations for the Rhein-Erft-Kreis police, oversees these efforts. The exhibition at the Rhein-Erft-Kreis Police is not just an educational tool; it is a testament to the department's commitment to fostering a society that values democratic ideals.
