Nation under heightened alert status; Prime Minister Shehbaz to deliver national address imminently.
Title: India's "Operation Sindoor": Striking Terror Hideouts Across Pakistan
Hit the snooze button on relaxation, folks, 'cause things just got real between India and Pakistan. Pakistan's put on a 'red alert,' with hospitals prepping for emergencies, airspace for flights closed for at least a day or two, schools and universities in Islamabad and Punjab province shuttered, and armed forces on standby. All this fuss after India's airstrikes on terror lairs in various parts of the country.
Pakistan's military spokesperson, General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, gave the lowdown: at least 26 casualties and 46 wounded from the Indian strikes that supposedly took out terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab province.
India called these strikes in response to the bloody Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 innocent civilians bit the dust at the hands of four militants, two of 'em allegedly Pakistanis.
So, where'd India strike? Six different targets, including:- Masjid SubhanAllah: The hideout of Jaish-e-Mohammed's boss, Maulana Masood Azhar, in Bahawalpur city, South Punjab province.- Muridke: A notorious base for Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaat ud Dawa, led by Hafiz Saeed. Despite Hafiz Saeed not being directly linked to Operation Sindoor, this headquarters marked one of the targets.- Several locations in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Bagh cities: Other spots where India dished out some serious punishment to the terror squads.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who'll chat with the nation in the afternoon, called an emergency National Security Committee meeting to mull over the country's security situation and the strategy for tackling India. The powwow will factor in international reactions, including the States' call for calm and de-escalation in the face of mounting tension between these nuclear neighbors.
Sit tight, folks; it appears we're in for a bumpy ride. Let's cross our fingers for a peaceful resolution and hope for the best for both nations. Stay tuned for more updates!
Pakistan's military and general news have been dominated by the aftermath of India's airstrikes, as hospitals, airspace, schools, and universities are on high alert and armed forces are ready in Islamabad and Punjab province. The airstrikes targeted terror hideouts in various locations, such as Masjid SubhanAllah, a hideout of Jaish-e-Mohammed's boss Maulana Masood Azhar in South Punjab province, and several locations in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Bagh cities. India's move is in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, with Pakistan-linked militants causing casualties. Despite the international calls for calm and de-escalation, politics and war-and-conflicts continue to intertwine in this region, and it's essential to monitor the financial implications of these events on the overall market.
