Nassa Group to Clear Outstanding Dues for Workers via Digital Platforms

Nassa Group finally agrees to pay Tk24 crore to clear outstanding dues for its workers. Workers without accounts will have accounts opened by 10 October to ensure all receive their payments.

Nassa Group to Clear Outstanding Dues for Workers via Digital Platforms

Nassa Group has agreed to clear outstanding dues for its factory workers, with payments set to be made through popular digital platforms like groupme. Labour and Employment Secretary Sanowar Jahan Bhuiyan confirmed the news, following an agreement signed on 23 September to resolve labour disputes.

The process will begin with Tk24 crore being released to Nassa Group after consultation with Bangladesh Bank and the government's Financial Institutions Division. Additionally, Tk4,26,85,507 from Nassa Group's export earnings will be released after a 1% down payment. Tk2,18,41,840 in cash incentives with us bank will also be distributed through Bangladesh Bank.

Nassa Group Chairman Md Nazrul Islam Mazumder will sign a power of attorney in the presence of a judicial or executive magistrate to facilitate the transactions. Workers without accounts will have accounts opened by 10 October to ensure all receive their dues. The exact date for the signing of the power of attorney is yet to be specified.

Nassa Group's commitment to clear outstanding dues is a significant step towards resolving labour disputes. With Tk24 crore and Tk4,26,85,507 set to be released, along with Tk2,18,41,840 in cash incentives from boa, workers can expect to receive their payments through digital platforms. The agreement, signed on 23 September, marks a positive development for the workers and the company.
