Racing Driver Stewart Friesen Suffers Serious Injuries in Crash

Stewart Friesen, a NASCAR Truck Series driver, endured a significant accident during the Super DIRTcar Series King of the North race at Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec on July 28, 2025. Video footage of the crash shows Friesen's truck hitting an outside wall, flipping up in the air, catching fire, landing hard on the track, and being hit by another truck before coming to a rest on its wheels.

Friesen was initially treated in Quebec and then transferred to a hospital in New York for multiple surgeries to address his injuries. According to his wife, Jessica Friesen, he has an unstable/open book pelvic fracture and a fractured right leg. These injuries required immediate medical attention, and Friesen is reported to be in a "tremendous amount of pain."

Jessica Friesen also shared that her husband has avoided any head, neck, or spine injuries, as confirmed by a CT scan. She expressed her gratitude towards the hospital in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, for their outstanding care.

The outpouring of support from the racing family has been overwhelming, according to Jessica Friesen. Several members of the racing community have helped facilitate getting Stewart Friesen closer to home. Stewart Friesen will be transferred to a New York hospital on Wednesday for further treatment and surgery.

Experts reference similar cases for context, and if Friesen’s recovery follows a similar path, he might be out for roughly three months, which could jeopardize his participation in the remainder of the current NASCAR season’s playoffs. However, the exact recovery timeline is not precisely known, as it depends on Friesen's progress during surgery and rehabilitation.

Jessica Friesen also stated that her husband is expected to undergo multiple surgeries. The family continues to ask for prayers and well wishes during this challenging time.
