Poor Josh Berry faced a rollercoaster ride during the weekend's events at Talladega.

Berry, the driver of the #21 Ford, didn't snag the coveted first place in the Jack Link's 500. He completed all 188 laps and racked up 12 leading laps, but a couple of challenges on the track left him in 26th position.

As he entered the pits, Berry unfortunately nudged one of Carson Hocevar's pit crew members. The tire changer swung around the outside of Hocevar's pit box and got clipped by Berry pulling into his stall. But fear not, veteran pit crew member Jarius Morehead, who hails from a football background, braved the collision and nailed the pit stop.

"I come from a football background. You get used to it," Morehead mentioned to FOX Sports' Regan Smith, adding he was 'all good'.

Josh Berry also had a moment reminiscent of baseball legend Randy Johnson.

At a staggering 190 mph in Stage 1, the vehicle took out a bird on the racetrack. Farewell, avian friend.

David Morehead, aka the crew chief Miles Stanley, elaborated on the matter to reporters after the race, courtesy of Frontstretch. "Birds can cause some damage. They can wreck havoc... It's not a huge surprise that we ended up getting one on the windshield," he stated. Luckily, the bird strike didn't impede the car's performance too much.

Josh Berry currently sits comfortably in 21st place in the NASCAR Cup Series standings.

*Bonus Tidbits:

  • The bird strike is a common occurrence at Talladega due to the area's abundance of birdlife[1][2].
  • Jarius Morehead's ability to withstand the impact was attributed to his athletic background[3][4].
