Screwball Space Gamble: Trump Axes Jared Isaacman's NASA Gig, Cutting Ties with Musk

NASA Administrator Faces Disfavor from Donald Trump - NASA Administrator Faces Disfavor from President Donald Trump
The Lone Ranger of billionaire space travel, Jared Isaacman, has bitten the dust-pan after Donald Trump yanked his nomination as NASA's new sheriff. Trump broke the news on his Truth Social platform, teasing a fresh candidate, promising to put Uncle Sam on a celestial throne.
Trump had popped the question to Isaacman at his inauguration back in January, yanking the baton from outgoing big cheese Bill Nelson. Many fawned that the confirmation from the Senate would follow shortly.
Elon Musk, the missile magnate hanging out with Trump, voiced his sorrow on the X platform, bemoaning the loss of a "generously capable and kind" comrade.
Trump Boots Jared Isaacman's Space Dreams
It's a twist worthy of a knock-knock joke that Trump has turned on one of his favorites. Back in December, he'd sung Isaacman's praises like a cosmic cowboy, hailing the high-flying spaceman as the right man to catapult NASA into a wild, interstellar spree.
Isaacman likewise sighed his resignation on the X platform, lamenting the opportunity but wishing the best for Trump and NASA as they kick off the greatest ride ever known to humanity. The world should have the best, "an administrator who's loaded with ideas, ready to rearrange, reconstruct, and rally the best minds to crack the whip of jaw-dropping headlines that only NASA seems capable of generating," he added.
Space Tycoon and Dem Crusader
Isaacman has found himself squarely in the headlines lately, thanks to his involvement in two private space missions: the first of which sent him orbiting the Earth for nearly three days last year, and a follow-up mission in September 2024 that saw him soaring at an altitude of roughly 1400 kilometers, briefly exiting his spacecraft alongside three other cuckoo-for-cocoon astronauts.
The flights were the product of a partnership with SpaceX, the private astronaut playhouse Elon Musk calls home, which Musk vacated his post within the Department of Government Efficiency on Friday after a tumultuous stint.
According to the New York Times, Trump's people decision might also reflect the waning clout of Musk in the government. Furthermore, Trump learned Isaacman was once a proud supporter of the Dems, dropping dough to the donkey party, the newspaper reported, citing moles with the inside scoop.
