Jared Isaacman's NASA Dream Crashes: A Trump U-Turn
NASA Administrator Faces Dwindling Support from Donald Trump - NASA Administrator Clashes with Donald Trump Over Professional Disagreements
Get ready to hold your breath! Jared Isaacman, the space-loving tycoon, won't be taking the helm at NASA anymore. Trump dropped the bombshell on his Truth Social platform, citing past associations as the culprit for yanking Isaacman's nomination as the new space agency chief. Rest assured, Trump will announce a replacement real soon, someone who'll put 'Merica first among the stars.
In January, Trump saw Isaacman as the paragon to succeed outgoing NASA honcho Bill Nelson. The Senate was all set to rubber-stamp the deal soon. But, never mind, El Presidente has a new contender up his sleeve.
Elon Musk, Isaacman's tech-billionaire pal, voiced his dismay on the X platform. Musk gushed, "It's rare to find someone so brilliant and kind."
Deja Vu with Trump and Jared Isaacman
Trump's flip-flop on his astronaut-in-waiting is a shocker. Back in December, Trump couldn't help but heap praise on Isaacman, stating that with his cosmic credentials, he was destined to lead NASA into uncharted territories.
Isaacman also weighed in on the surprise resignation on the X platform, saying, "I'll eternally thank this opportunity. I'll cheer on our president and NASA as they chart the course for the ultimate space adventure." The USA deserves a supreme commander, "an administrator ready to reorganize, rebuild, and rally the brightest minds to make headlines that NASA was born to create."
Space Cowboy with Political Flair
Isaacman became the talk of the town recently with two private space travels: in 2021, he helmed the first crew of civilian astronauts, orbiting Earth for nearly three days, and in September 2024, he took part in the "Polaris Dawn" mission, soaring at an altitude of roughly 1400 kilometers, even for a quickie spacewalk. Both voyages were orchestrated in partnership with SpaceX, Musk's private space company, which he relinquished as the government's budget buster last Friday following a series of turbulent months.
However, some believe Trump's personnel selection may also have something to do with Musk's declining influence within the GOP. Furthermore, sources close to The New York Times claim that Isaacman was previously a blue-ticket guy, donating funds to the Dems.

- Despite earlier praise for his cosmic credentials, Donald Trump's sudden U-turn on nominating Jared Isaacman as the new NASA chief has left many in a state of disbelief.
- I'm not going to be a big fan of Elon Musk's SpaceX when it comes to their political affiliations, given that Jared Isaacman, a space cowboy with political flair, has previously donated to Democratic parties.
