Relates Accounts of History Through Composition 'You're Beautiful' - Narrating the tale behind "You're Beautiful"

After two decades, the British heartthrob, James Blunt (51), spills the beans on the true tale behind his iconic chart-topper "You're Beautiful". To mark the anniversary, the singer shares a tantalizing sneak peek on his social media account, shedding new light on the legend of his chart-stormer.

Caught in a whirlwind of nostalgia, Blunt reminisces about releasing the song that elevated him to stardom and financed his swanky abode. In a heartfelt video, filmed in a comfy living room, the singer, casually dressed in an unbuttoned gray polo shirt, shares, "Twas twenty years ago today, I unleashed a song that earned me this crib. Who'da thunk a tune about being baked as a dragon, high as sin, and trailing someone else's girlfriend on the London underground would strike such a chord? Cheers to you! You're beautiful!"

"It's Got a Creepy Undertone, Mate"

Blunt's fans have been guessing the identity behind the lyrical serenade's romantic undertones since its release. Rumors swirled that the lyrics may have been penned for Casterin Dixie Chassay, an ex-flame of Blunt's. However, at the time, the singer kept mum on the matter. In aparticular interview for "The Guardian" about six years prior, he offered some valuable insights into the song's genesis. "One day, I was cruising the London Underground and chanced upon an ex-girlfriend with her new fella. Our eyes met, but we just waved goodbye and moved on, and I dashed home to scribble the lyrics to 'You're Beautiful' in nary a minute," he wrote. He also dismissed any undeniable romantic connection to the tune, "The universe has always skewed it as romantic, but it's actually got a creepy undertone, mate – 'tis about a bloke (yours truly) who's coddled in drugs, feeling like a creeper as he eyeballs someone else's girlfriend on the Underground. But everyone makes those quizzical moments when they yearn, 'What if I'd said something?'"

"You're Beautiful" was the third single from Blunt's album "Back to Bedlam", splashed upon the scene in October 2004. The swashbuckling son of a gun, Blunt, exchanged vows with Sofia Wellesley in September 2014 – the granddaughter of Arthur Wellesley, 8th Duke of Wellington. The couple welcomed two cherubic bundles of joy.
