Narendra Modi Pays Emotional Visit to Air India Crash Survivors in Ahmedabad

"Narendra Modi consoles plane crash survivor, hospital visitors: Prime Minister Narendra Modi pays a visit to the accident survivors and injured victims of the Air India plane crash, offering solace and support at a hospital in Ahmedabad."

In a poignant display of empathy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a heartfelt visit to the civil hospital in Ahmedabad on Friday, hosting the victims who were injured in the catastrophic Air India plane crash that claimed more than 270 lives just a day prior. Among the injured, he met the lone survivor, Vishwas Kumar Ramesh.

Huddled in the C7 ward, Modi spent time with the 25 survivors receiving treatment, demonstrating compassion through his presence. He also had a conversation with the hospital's doctors.

Emotions ran high as the Prime Minister, following his hospital visit, took to social media to express his profound sorrow over the tragic incident. Labeling the event as a "heartbreaking and sudden tragedy," Modi added, "The entire nation is mourning the loss of so many lives."

"We are all devastated by the air tragedy in Ahmedabad. The loss of so many lives in such a sudden and heartbreaking manner is beyond words. Condolences to all the bereaved families. We understand their pain and also know that the void left behind will be felt for years to come. Om Shanti," Modi said in his message.

The plane crash occurred on June 12, 2025. The specific cause of the catastrophe is still under investigation, although experts in airplane engineering suggest the possibility of engine failure. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which was involved in the crash, experienced a brief altitude reach before plummeting rapidly, hinting at a steep dive shortly after take-off.

The tragedy resulted in at least 270 fatalities: 241 on board and 29 on the ground. Viswash Kumar Ramesh, a British national, survived with injuries, making him the sole survivor. The incident ranks among India's worst aviation disasters in recent history.

The investigation into the crash is currently underway, with multiple authorities and experts involved. The fact that this represents the first fatal crash of a Boeing 787 in 16 years of operation adds a layer of complexity to understanding the cause. Recovery efforts have been ongoing since the incident, with the area maintained under lockdown for safety purposes.

In the midst of the ongoing investigation into the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, political discussions have arisen, with questions being raised about the safety of aircraft and the possibility of engine failure.

Meanwhile, amidst the general news of the tragedy and the ongoing recovery efforts, the survivors, including Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, continue to receive treatment for their injuries, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing his empathy in person.
