Napoli has acquired the services of Spanish defender Miguel Gutiérrez from Girona.
In a significant move for the Italian football scene, Spanish defender Miguel Gutiérrez has signed a five-year contract with Napoli, set to keep him at the club until 2030. The deal, reportedly worth €18 million fixed with an additional €2 million in variables, was officially completed in August 2025.
Gutiérrez, a 24-year-old left-back, joins Napoli from Girona FC, where he spent three seasons playing 112 official matches and scoring 6 goals, while providing 19 assists. His impressive performances at Girona earned him a spot in Spain’s Under-21 and Olympic teams, where he went on to win a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and score in a match against the Dominican Republic.
Gutiérrez's journey in football began at Real Madrid's youth academy, where he won the UEFA Youth League in 2020 and made his senior debut for the club in 2021. Prior to his move to Girona, he helped Real Madrid win a Spanish championship and a Champions League in the 2021/22 season.
The 'partenopei' had already added several players to their roster in the summer, with Gutiérrez joining as the eighth reinforcement. This signing comes after Napoli's triumphant 2024/25 season, in which they became Italian champions for the fourth time in their history.
As Napoli continues to strengthen their squad, fans are eager to see how Gutiérrez will contribute to the team's success. With his impressive track record and the potential for growth, it's clear that Gutiérrez is set to play a significant role in Napoli's future.
