Smarten up your holiday decor with Nanoleaf's holiday string lights
Intelligent Christmas tree lights make holiday decorations even more magical. Smart LED bulbs allow you to control lighting based on timers, turning them on and off easily. If you're on the hunt for a simple-to-use intelligent string light set, the Nanoleaf Smart String Light is perfect for you.
Premium-Quality With Brightness and Color Palette
I recently fell for Nanoleaf's products and lived with my room bathed in beautiful colors. When I discovered their outdoor smart lights, I couldn't resist. Nanoleaf currently offers only a special type of holiday string lights, available both indoors and outdoors.
These weatherproof LED lights are 65 feet long and divided into two reflective sections. They all have a black finish, and the app design would seem perfect for wrapping around a Christmas tree as the marketing suggests. With an IP44 waterproof rating, they are suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Although these smart LED lights offer numerous colors due to RGB technology, they only provide approximately 16 million color options. However, they lack the expanded RGBWW color palette found in Govee Permanent Lights Pro.
Multiple Connectivity Methods
Nanoleaf devices support Matter integration, making it easy to pair them with any Matter hub. They also work seamlessly with the Nanoleaf app, providing personalized control features. The Nanoleaf uses both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to manage core functions, but you need Bluetooth to make changes such as changing colors.
Plenty of Color Options
The Nanoleaf app sets its lights apart with various features. It's helpful to compare the options to those of the Govee Smart String Lights, which I also tested. The Nanoleaf app does not overwhelm you with tools, but instead, it offers enough features in areas where they're genuinely useful.

Navigating and grouping within the app is simple. From the app, you can select a color or pre-set theme, and most of these presets are genuinely useful. However, it's essential to note that these colors change into color transitions in practice. Nanoleaf uses transitions between colors to create smooth transitions.
Nanoleaf first sets the default to two options—color transitions and music reactions. In the app, you can view the actual color transition used, unlike the Govee app, which expects you to guess the color. It seems that the entire string can be set to a single color, including white, which looks quite attractive. While you can assign up to six base colors, the app takes care of the transitions between the colors, creating beautiful color transitions and patterns.
The lights can move but don't need to. These movements can react to sounds or not, similar to the Govee lights.
Creating customized color scenes is easy
You can edit any preset to change colors or actions. But you can also create a custom scene from scratch. This process is simpler in the Nanoleaf app: simply click on the "+" icon and select your colors individually, or start with a wide variety of color themes. Then, you decide which actions you want to use. Nanoleaf helpfully tells you how the motion behaves, allowing you to make adjustments.

If you create your custom scene from scratch, you can start with a predefined color palette or choose your own shade of pink, like I have here. You can then choose any action and see exactly what effect the action will have.
