Typhoon Nando Approaches the Philippines

As Typhoon Nando (Ragasa) continues its west-northwestward movement, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued several weather warnings for various parts of the country.

Currently, Typhoon Nando is located 775 km. east of Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph and gustiness up to 150 kph. PAGASA predicts that the typhoon may reach super typhoon category by Monday before its close approach to Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

The center of Nando is forecasted to potentially hit or pass near the Batanes and Babuyan island groups in the northern Philippines on Monday evening, September 22, 2025. PAGASA predicts that the typhoon may pass close to or make landfall over Batanes or the Babuyan Islands Monday afternoon or evening.

Wind Signal No. 1 will be hoisted over Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon on Saturday afternoon. The northern section of Luzon will experience moderate winds and moderate seas, while the eastern sections of Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.

The rest of the archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas. The same weather conditions are expected over Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Pangasinan, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of Calabarzon due to the southwest monsoon.

The trough of Typhoon Nando will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora, and Quezon. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon or localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA predicts that Typhoon Nando will continue to intensify while over the Philippine Sea. They also predict that Typhoon Nando will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Tuesday morning. Residents in the affected areas are advised to monitor the weather updates and take necessary precautions.
