Germany's Coach Speaks Ahead of Third-Place Showdown Against France

Germany's coach, Julian Nagelsmann, is pushing for an enhanced performance from the German national team in the upcoming third-place match in the Nations League. In an interview, Nagelsmann stated, "It ain't about third or fourth place - it's about playing a cracking game and getting ready for the World Cup qualifiers." The game takes place on Sunday, 3 PM, in Stuttgart against reigning world champions, France (live on RTL and DAZN).

Nagelsmann underlined that the clash still carries "many aspects," despite it being "par for the course" for "a few percentage points to be missing." Nevertheless, the coach doesn't anticipate any motivational issues with his team: "It's still the German A squad. If I've gotta pump 'em up every time in the locker room, then I need to rethink the team roster. Football's a beautiful game. Nobody needs to dig ditches tomorrow."

Pascal Groß Expects Opportunity in Starting Lineup

Pascal Groß echoed Nagelsmann's remarks. "I'm fucking stoked for the game against a top-tier opponent, against world-class players," said Groß. "It's a massive fucking thing."

The upcoming issue of MOPO, available from Friday everywhere where newspapers are found, features stories about a "Hells Angel" speaking out, shocking details about a kidnapping case, a care case disaster on Sylt, secret tips for the beautiful season in Hamburg, brain teasers, sports updates, and culture tips.

Dortmund native Groß is set to start against France. Following the semi-finals loss against Portugal (1:2), Nagelsmann plans some changes. "We'll be shaking up a few positions," said the 37-year-old. "We'll adjust the defensive formation." Nagelsmann hopes this tweak will generate "more successful high ball wins."

No Extra Time If Match Is a Draw

In case of a draw, the German team will evade the exhaustion of extra time. If there's no winner after 90 minutes, the game goes straight to a penalty shootout. The standard extra time in tournaments will be omitted, as announced by UEFA on Saturday.
