In an unexpected move, 23-year-old Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade will remain with the senior German football team following his impressive debut in the Nations League semifinal. The DFB, or German Football Association, announced this change ahead of Sunday's third-place match against Spain or France.

Initially, there were discussions about sending Woltemade to the U21 team, which is preparing for the European Championships. However, after internal discussions, the decision was made for Woltemade to remain with coach Julian Nagelsmann. Nagelsmann had initially suggested that Woltemade would join the U21 team if they didn't advance to the final[1][4].

The U21 team is currently gearing up for their European Championships, which will take place from 11 to 28 June in Slovakia. Woltemade had been earmarked as a key player for U21 coach Antonio Di Salvo's squad[5].

Nagelsmann is dealing with absent top offensive players like Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, and Tim Kleindienst at the Final Four. The U21 players are also expected to have two free days post a secret final EM test against Finland on Thursday[2].

Woltemade had a challenging first game as the central striker against Portugal's defense but showed promise. despite not scoring, Nagelsmann praised his debut performance, stating, "For his first game, it was okay. I don't want to overrate it. There are so many things happening to a young player. You can't expect miracles. He made good use of the first 60 minutes as a senior national player." [3]

Community policy within the Football National Team might need to be revised to allow for the continued employment of Nick Woltemade, despite initial discussions suggesting his move to the U21 team. In his spare time, Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of the Football National Team, is known to have an interest in sports, particularly football.
