Nadia Lee Cohen, a British photographer and filmmaker known for her cinematic and surreal visual style, has released a video for Aphex Twin's track "Korg Funk 5." The video, co-directed by Charlie Denis, premiered on Instagram today.

The video deviates from the song's original tech-focused release, instead complementing it with a lo-fi, home-movie feel that aligns with Aphex Twin, or Richard D. James's, preference for "fucked-muffled/lo-bit/'70s sound." James, in a discussion with Korg engineer Tatsuya Takahashi, expressed this preference.

The video was made with Korg synthesizers, a fitting choice given the track's name. It sets the 2017 Aphex Twin song featuring vocals from Richard D. James's son, adding a personal touch to the electronic music.

Cohen's approach for the video draws from her background in fashion editorials, with her signature style transforming everyday scenes and characters into theatrical, sometimes unsettling tableaux. Her work often incorporates retro aesthetics and satire, a trend that is evident in the "Korg Funk 5" video.

The video links electronic music's underground roots with current visual trends in fashion and film, creating a unique and thought-provoking piece. Cohen's collaboration with Aphex Twin is a testament to her versatility as an artist, having previously worked with global icons like Beyoncé, Tyler, the Creator, Rihanna, and Lana Del Rey, and luxury fashion brands such as Schiaparelli, Balenciaga, Maison Margiela, Saint Laurent, Gucci, and Valentino.

Cohen's distinctive style, which evokes nostalgia and saturation of colour, is central to the "Korg Funk 5" video, further solidifying her reputation as a visionary in the world of photography and film.
