Mystics' Citron and Iriafen Make History as First Rookie All-Stars Since 1999

The Washington Mystics have made history with their rookie duo, Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen. The pair have become the first rookie teammates to be selected as All-Stars since 1999, under the guidance of coach Sydney Johnson.

Iriafen had an exceptional season, setting a single-season franchise record for rebounds with 376. She also recorded a rookie-best and franchise record of 16 double-doubles. Her impressive performance earned her the Kia Rookie of the Month award, making her the first rookie to achieve this feat. Iriafen ranked fifth overall in the league for double-doubles and fourth for rebounds per game with 8.5.

Citron, too, had a remarkable season. She averaged 14.9 points and 4 rebounds per game, breaking the Mystics' single-season scoring record with 657 points. Together, they were named to the 2025 WNBA All-Rookie team, becoming the eighth and ninth players in franchise history to receive this honour.

Citron and Iriafen's outstanding performances have not only earned them individual accolades but also set a new standard for rookie teammates in the WNBA. They are expected to continue their success in the Unrivaled professional three-on-three women's basketball league this offseason.
