Mysterious adhesive, deceitful device posing hazard for motorists.
In Freudenberg-Oberheuslingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, a suspicious incident occurred on Heuslingstraße on September 18, 2025. A 50 km/h speed limit sign was placed over a 30 km/h sign, causing confusion among drivers and sparking an investigation.
The speed camera on Heuslingstraße, which was installed on the same day, was monitoring traffic at the permitted maximum speed of 30 km/h. A witness reported the incident to the police's control center on Thursday morning at 7:20 AM, and the local police reported it later that day.
The district spokesperson stated that no speeding offenses will be enforced due to the deception. Drivers are not held responsible for adhering to the incorrect speed limit sign. However, the responsible party for placing the 50 km/h speed limit sign before the speed camera was installed is unknown.
The malicious prank has led to a criminal complaint for attempted dangerous interference with road traffic. The incident remains under investigation with no identified suspects so far.
Despite the confusion, the district spokesperson urges drivers to consider the 30 km/h limit as being in effect at the location. The speed camera was set up shortly after the speed limit sign was changed, and it is expected to continue monitoring traffic to ensure safety.
This incident serves as a reminder to always be vigilant and to report any suspicious activities related to road safety. The police encourage anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and help in the investigation.
