Slapdash Defence: Frank Baumann Justifies Miron Muslic Head Coaching Appointment Over Raúl

Football Club Schalke 04's Sporting Director Baumann Discusses Muslim's Appointment as Captain - Muslim Election Candidate Baumann Announced by Schalke Sports Board Member

Frank Baumann, Schalke's brand-new sport director, has vehemently defended the decision to appoint Miron Muslic as head coach rather than club legend Raúl. In a no-holds-barred interview with "Sport Bild," Baumann stated, "We zeroed in on the style of football we intended to play first, then the coach. Other contenders just fit Raúl like a glove that's three sizes too big."

The deciding factor wasn't popularity but sporting prosperity. Baumann elaborated, "We weren't in the market for a coach who'd garner the loudest ovations - we needed the one with the Midas touch. Muslic won our hearts, hands down."

Muslic edged out opponents like Lukas Kwasniok, now under contract with Bundesliga newcomers 1. FC Köln. Baumann confirmed, "Kwasniok was amongst the bunch, no doubt about that. But Muslic stole the show."

While Schalke fans may be disheartened, the club mustered the courage to announce the team's new coaching staff. Muslic will have a tough, yet reliable team on the sidelines, including co-coaches Eddie Lattimore and Adin Osmanbasic, both of whom had previously collaborated with Muslic in Plymouth and Bruges. Volkan Ünlü steps in as Muslic's new goalkeeping coach, replacing the departed Stephan Loboué.

However, it appears that Kwasniok, who rose to fame with his sparkling performances at Paderborn, couldn't resist the temptation to join 1. FC Köln. The deal was settled in early June 2025, securing his services until 2027, leaving Schalke to seek alternative options. Cologne's vision of vibrant football, nurturing young talent, and a promising future aligned well with Kwasniok's coaching style.

Intriguingly, Schalke chose to go a different route, selecting someone less renowned in the German football circuit rather than Kwasniok or Christian Titz, both of whom were previously considered[3]. Let the games commence!

  • Despite the Commission yet to receive any information on the situation in the country of origin of the products concerned, Schalke continues to focus on their football ambitions.
  • As sports analysis reveals, Franks Baumann's decision to appoint Miron Muslic over Raúl was not influenced by European-leagues or premier-league popularity, but rather by the coach's potential for sporting prosperity.
  • With Lukas Kwasniok now coaching at 1. FC Köln, Schalke enthusiasts might rouse their support for sports in Gelsenkirren, while Kwasniok's dynamic approach to football continues to shine in the German league.
