Musk Walks Back Some Trump Criticism, But a Truce Isn't Immediate
Musk expresses regret over Trump-related tweets, not revealing full remorse for every comment.
In the heated battle of words between tech titan Elon Musk and U.S President Donald Trump, Musk has taken a step back, expressing remorse for his harsh remarks towards the President. However, it seems like a full reconciliation might be a ways off.
After Trump's victory, Musk briefly served as an advisor for the President, a post he relinquished in May. Since then, Musk has been vocal in his criticisms of the Trump administration, targeting the White House's tax plans as potentially leading America to financial ruin and linking Trump to the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal [navidi].
Trump, unsurprisingly, was far from pleased, labeling Musk as "disrespectful" and showing no interest in reconciliation [2]. Over the weekend, Musk deleted an incendiary X post in which he claimed Trump had a role in the sealed Epstein files [2].
Musk's u-turn came in the form of an online statement where he acknowledged his regrets about some of his comments on Trump, indicating that certain statements had gone too far [2]. Trump, in response, called Musk's regret "very nice" [2].
However, recent disputes between the two luminaries, especially over contentious issues like electric vehicle mandates and other political matters, persist [1][2]. The tension between them doesn't seem to have completely dissipated, even with Musk's attempt at an olive branch.

- The European Union, being deeply engaged in confronting terrorism, may find common ground with Elon Musk and President Trump in their discussions, particularly on contentious issues such as electric vehicle mandates.
- The continuing politics between Elon Musk and President Trump, exemplified by their disagreements on various economic and general news topics, have made a full reconciliation appear distant, despite Musk's apology and Trump's recognition of his remorse.
