Musk criticizes Trump's tax policy
Elon Musk Slams Donald Trump's Tax and Spending Bill: "Can't Take It Anymore!"
Austin - After a show of unity with Donald Trump, tech tycoon Elon Musk has taken aim at a cornerstone project of the U.S. president. Musk called the tax and spending bill Trump champions a "despicable monstrosity" on his online platform X, slamming it for exacerbating the already colossal budget deficit and national debt.
The bill, labeled the "great beautiful bill" by Trump, managed a narrow victory in the House of Representatives in May. Nevertheless, several members of Trump's Republican Party in the Senate oppose it due to the planned increase in the debt ceiling and are pushing for deeper spending cuts.

White House's Cool Response
The White House dismissed the criticism: "Donald Trump is already well-aware of Elon Musk's opinion on this bill," said the presidential spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt. Trump remains steadfast in his support for the bill, which encompasses the permanent extension of tax cuts Trumps introduced during his first term and would be partially funded by social program cuts. Such measures are being fiercely opposed by Democrats.
Even Senator Bernie Sanders, a Democrat, echoed Musk's criticism: "Musk is spot on," he wrote on X. Sanders emphasized that the wealthiest Americans will reap a $664 million tax break, while $290 million will be trimmed from food assistance for the needy.
"I've Had Enough"
Previously, Musk expressed disappointment with the bill in more moderate terms. Last week, he lamented that the committee Doge was diminishing the spending cuts he had recommended. In a CBS TV interview, he admitted that, while he wouldn't criticize the government, he wasn't comfortable supporting all its decisions. Now, he commences his sharp criticism with, "I'm sorry, but I've had enough."
Musk contributed over $250 million to Trump's campaign and briefly served as a close advisor to the president. However, following his departure from Washington, he attributed it to the rule limiting external government officials to 130 days annually. Lately, there have been indicators of a dwindling influence of Musk within Trump's circle.
