Musician Sarah Engels ascends to fame as a renowned musical figure
Sarah Engels, known for her stint on Germany's Got Talent (DSDS) and her successful music career, is set to take on the leading role of Satine in the musical adaptation of the iconic film "Moulin Rouge!" in Cologne. The performances are scheduled to begin on November 13.
Engels, who was married to singer Pietro Lombardi from 2013 to 2019 and is the mother of his son, will be stepping into the shoes of a woman who loves the stage but also grapples with the dark side of show business. The musical, based on the 2001 film starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, promises an extravagant and captivating experience.
Despite having no prior experience on a musical stage or in school theater, Engels has shown a keen interest in the role. She has been rehearsing diligently, preparing for the opulent costumes, including a corset, that the role requires.
Engels, a family person who prioritizes spending time with her children, has expressed uncertainty about a permanent future on the musical stage due to her family commitments. However, she is determined to give her all to this new venture.
The creative team, including those from New York's Broadway, auditioned Engels for the role, and she was ultimately hired by ATG Entertainment. Engels, who currently boasts 1.8 million followers on Instagram, is facing a mental strain rather than a physical one in her new role.
Engels first gained fame through her appearance on Germany's Got Talent and has since released her own music and appeared in numerous TV formats. With her charisma and talent, she is sure to captivate audiences as Satine, the star of the legendary Parisian nightclub Moulin Rouge.
Don't miss this opportunity to witness Sarah Engels in her debut musical role. The performances of "Moulin Rouge!" in Cologne start on November 13.
