Royal Carols: Together at Christmas – A Celebration of Love, Empathy, and Kindness
The much-anticipated Royal Carols: Together at Christmas broadcast is set to air on ITV and ITVX on Christmas Eve at 7:30 pm. Hosted by Catherine, Princess of Wales, the event was filmed on December 6 and promises to be a heartwarming celebration of love, empathy, and kindness in communities.
The carol service, held at the historic Westminster Abbey, features a diverse lineup of performers. Among them are Olivia Dean, Gregory Porter, Paloma Faith, JP Cooper, and the Soul Sanctuary Choir. Notably, composer-pianist Rosey Chan has created a new piece of music specifically for the occasion.
Princess Kate involved Lady Gabriella Windsor, the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, in the planning of the service. Lady Gabriella, whose husband passed away earlier this year, engaged the Restore the Music charity to perform for guests at the carol service. Her passion for music and helping young people was highlighted by Polly Moore, CEO of Restore the Music.
The service aims to provide a moment to reflect on the importance of love and empathy. In addition to traditional Christmas carols sung by the Abbey choir, such as 'O Come, All Ye Faithful', there were poignant readings by Prince William, Olympian Adam Peaty, Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo, Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery, and actor Richard E. Grant. A rousing rendition of 'Away in a Manger' was delivered by the Sankofa Singers, an intergenerational choir based in Belong Chester.
Princess Kate hosted her fourth annual carol service at Westminster Abbey on Christmas Eve, with the Wales family attending front row. The event is expected to offer a touching and uplifting experience for viewers, as they gather around their televisions to celebrate the spirit of the holiday season.
