Musical prodigy, Sarah Engels, ascends to stardom
Singer Sarah Engels is set to make her stage debut as the iconic character Satine in the musical adaptation of "Moulin Rouge!" in Cologne, starting from November 13. The musical, based on the 2001 film starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, promises an extravagant and captivating theatrical experience.
Engels, who first gained recognition through the RTL casting show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar," has expressed her excitement and apprehension about her new role. With 15 performances planned, she will be immersing herself in the world of music, dance, and choreography that the musical offers.
Engels had to audition for the entire creative team of "Moulin Rouge!" in addition to being asked if she could imagine taking on the role. She revealed that this is a new experience for her, as she will be focusing on acting, dance, and theater in addition to music.
Preparing for the role has been demanding, with Engels having to try on the opulent costumes, including the corset, early on in the process. She has also mentioned that singing in the corset is different because she gets less air.
Engels, who was married to singer Pietro Lombardi from 2013 to 2019 and shares a son with him, is now a mother of two. She had a daughter in 2021 with her new husband Julian. Since then, she has released a lot of her own music and participated in numerous TV formats such as "Let's Dance," "The Masked Singer," and "Dancing on Ice."
In the musical, Engels will be portraying a woman who loves the stage but also struggles with the darker sides of show business, a character that resonates with her personal journey in the entertainment industry.
Meanwhile, in Hamm, relief has been granted to clubs, and Eurobahn is inviting people to the Day of the Rails event. The Heinemann Quarter is also replacing the old Kaufhof in Hamm. For more news from Hamm, stay tuned.
Engels currently has 1.8 million followers on Instagram, where she shares glimpses of her life and career with her fans. Fans of Engels and the "Moulin Rouge!" musical are eagerly awaiting her debut performance as Satine in Cologne.
