Known as a pop visionary, Wilson composed almost all of the band's hits and produced their albums, culminating in a string of renowned tunes such as "Fun Fun Fun", "Good Vibrations", "Little Deuce Coupe", "Help Me Rhonda", and "Surfin' USA". His magnum opus, "Pet Sounds", is often lauded as the best pop album of the 20th century.

His family announced his passing through a heartfelt statement on his website and Instagram, expressed as, "We are at a loss for words."

Wilson fought a battle with a form of dementia and was under conservatorship at the time of his passing. Less than a year prior, his long-time wife, Melinda, had passed away at the age of 77. Together, they raised five children, and Wilson had two children from a previous marriage.

Dylan shared his thoughts on online platform X, while Keith Richards (81) shared an excerpt from his autobiography on Instagram. Both musicians extended their respects, as did bandmate Ronnie Wood (78) on Instagram, stating, "My world mourns."

He suffered from nervous breakdowns, anxieties, and was addicted to pills, hashish, LSD, and later cocaine to boost his creativity. The multiply award-winning band repeatedly fell out and made up again. In 2012, The Beach Boys released their comeback album, "That's Why God Made the Radio", and embarked on a world tour, which was sold out.
