Music powerhouse Warner steps into a new creative domain, establishing a center for innovation and creativity.
In the heart of Berlin, the historic Schickler Home office building has changed hands once again. The real estate investor Art-Invest Real Estate has purchased the building following its renovation and conversion into the commercial home 'BEAM'.
Originally built by Hiller & Kuhlmann in 1910 on a plot of 4,360 square meters, the Schickler Home has a rich history. After reunification, it underwent a reconstruction and expansion between 1997 and 1999. However, the original renovation plans were more radical than the current state. The Signa group, who acquired the property in 2017, revised the plans, demanding a more restrained and lighter roof extension and a stronger structuring of the facade, based on the historical model.
The Schickler Home has been home to various companies and political parties over the years. Shops were located on the ground floor, while the other floors housed offices. A commemorative plaque in the office home marks the location of the founding congress of the FSJ in 1918, where Karl Liebknecht spoke.
In a significant development, Warner Music has taken up residence as the new anchor tenant in the historic home. The Signa group had previously carried out a comprehensive renovation of the building, but has now relinquished its possession.
Interestingly, Klaus-Michael Kuhne has fully taken over the 'BEAM' home, previously holding a 50 percent stake. This move solidifies Art-Invest Real Estate's position as the sole owner of the iconic Schickler Home, now known as the 'BEAM' home.
As the Schickler Home enters a new era, it continues to stand as a testament to Berlin's rich history and vibrant commercial scene.
