Seely, affectionately known as "Miss Country Soul," died in Hermitage, a suburb of Nashville, due to complications from an intestinal infection. She had undergone multiple back and emergency abdominal surgeries and spent 11 days in intensive care dealing with pneumonia and other health challenges.
Seely was a Grammy Award-winning country singer and a long-time member of the Grand Ole Opry. She performed nearly 5,400 times at the Grand Ole Opry, more than any other artist. Seely was also regarded as a mentor and friend by multiple generations of country music stars, including Dolly Parton, who praised her both for her vocal talent and personal friendship.
Seely's career spanned over five decades, and she was known for her hit songs such as "Don't Touch Me." Her unique voice and soulful performances left a lasting impact on the country music industry.
