Music group OMD unveils 40th-anniversary expanded version of 'Crush' album
The much-anticipated 40th-anniversary deluxe reissue of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD)'s iconic album "Crush" is set to be released on 10 October 2025. This extensive reissue will be available in various formats, including 2CD, 2LP (black or coloured vinyl), exclusive clear vinyl 2LP (via the band's UK webstore), and digital editions.
The original 1985 album tracks can be found on the first disc or LP, featuring hits such as "So In Love", "Secret", "Bloc Bloc Bloc", and "The Lights Are Going Out". The second disc or LP showcases seven previously unreleased tracks, along with rarities and remixes, including "Wheels of Steel", "Lana Turner v.1", and "So In Love (Special American Dance Remix)".
Notably, the 2LP vinyl edition omits some B-sides and the UK 12" mix of "So In Love" to fit the format, but includes the seven unreleased tracks and rarities. All versions have been remastered from the original analogue tapes, and the deluxe editions feature rare photos and liner notes with commentary by Andy McCluskey and journalist Jason Draper.
This reissue celebrates the album originally released on 17 June 1985, which was OMD's breakthrough, featuring hit singles like "So In Love" and "Secret" and marking their first Billboard Hot 100 hit in the US. Andy McCluskey, one of the founders of OMD, has called this reissue a "wonderful opportunity to re-assess the album."
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) was formed in 1978 in Meols, Merseyside, England, by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, who moved on from their earlier project, the Id. Over their career, OMD has sold more than 40 million records and achieved 14 top-20 albums in the UK. After reuniting in 2006, OMD revisited their early experimental sound and continued to release new albums and tour internationally.
Fans in the United States, Canada, and Mexico can order from OMD's USA webstore for local shipping rates. Pre-orders for the deluxe editions of the reissued "Crush" are available via the band's UK webstore. This reissue is a must-have for any OMD fan and a testament to the enduring legacy of this groundbreaking band.
