Music festival "Classix" delves into the sugary aspects of life through tunes originating from Italy
The Classix Festival in Kempten, Germany, is gearing up for an exciting week of music, with famous singers and instrumentalists set to perform at the "Bella Furia" concerts.
The renowned artists include Shira Patchornik and Els Biesemans, who will captivate audiences with their performances. The musical festival aperitif will be moderated by dramaturg Katja Tschirwitz.
The festival, established in 2006 by Silvia Tröger's late husband Franz, will kick off on Sunday, September 21, with an evening concert featuring Els Biesemans (piano) and Shira Patchornik (soprano) with Chaarts, spanning from Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach to Beethoven.
On Thursday evening, pianist Lucas Debargue and three composers, inspired by Italy but not from there, will be explored: Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Richard Strauss. This concert will be followed by two school concerts dedicated to the most popular Italian classical composer, Antonio Vivaldi, on Thursday, September 25.
Italy will only be heard on the periphery at the last two Classix concerts of the weekend, September 27 and 28, including much film music. Popular TV actor Wolfram Berger will tell the story of Giacomo Casanova on Friday, September 26, with Venetian composers providing the soundtrack: Antonio Vivaldi, Tomaso Albinoni, and Alessandro Marcello.
The motto of the festival is "Dolce Vita," meaning music from Bella Italia, such as Antonio Vivaldi, will be at the center. The "Chamber Artists" (Chaarts) from Switzerland will perform at the "Classix Kempten" festival in the Stadttheater Kempten from September 20 to September 28, 2025.
Two one-hour concerts are scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2025, at 6 pm and 8 pm in the Stadttheater foyer under the motto "Treasure Trove." Andreas Fleck, the new artistic director of the festival and a cellist, has brought Chaarts from Switzerland.
There are still plenty of tickets available for the festival, as advance sales could be better. Only a few places are left for the festival opening in the theater foyer, which is free and open to the public. Spontaneous registrations for the school concerts on Thursday, September 25, can be made via the email address [email protected].
Don't miss out on this musical extravaganza! The Classix Festival promises an unforgettable week of music, storytelling, and cultural exploration.
