Music extravaganza at Tempelhof Airport taking place on October 7, labeled as the Nova festival.
The tragic attack on the Nova music festival near the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, is the focus of an upcoming exhibition in Berlin. The event, which resulted in 411 unarmed deaths and hundreds of injuries, will be remembered and commemorated at the former Tempelhof Airport from October 7, 2025.
The exhibition, titled 'We will dance again', is a symbol of hope and resilience. It has been under the patronage of Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU), Minister of State for Culture Wolfram Weimer, and Minister of Education Karin Prien (CDU).
The Nova Festival, a popular event that attracted approximately 3,000 guests, was one of several targets in Israel at the time. The attack was carried out by Palestinian terrorists, and 44 people were taken to the Gaza Strip. Regrettably, 14 individuals are still being held in captivity on Palestinian territory.
The exhibition will showcase the festival grounds, materials from there, multimedia installations, and eyewitness accounts. Reut Feingold, the initiator of the exhibition, states that it is a testament to the strength of the community and the universal need for healing and remembrance.
Ofir Amir, the Nova Festival co-founder who narrowly survived the attack, has also been instrumental in the creation of this exhibition. Born and raised in Berlin, Amir's personal connection to the event adds a poignant dimension to the exhibition.
The exhibition about the Nova Festival and the terror attack has been shown in multiple cities, including Tel Aviv, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Buenos Aires, Toronto, and Washington. The initiator of the exhibition, artist Oliver Plischek, initially planned to showcase it in early 2025 at the Lausitzer Seenland region in Brandenburg, Germany, before bringing it to Berlin.
The motto of the exhibition, 'We will dance again', symbolizes hope and the community's determination to remember and honour those lost, while also looking forward to the future. The exhibition promises to be a poignant and memorable tribute to the Nova Festival and the resilience of the community affected by the tragic event.
