Music creators Mark Ronson and Raye collaborate on a jazz-infused summer tune titled 'Suzanne'
In honor of Audemars Piguet's 150th anniversary, powerhouse musicians Raye and Mark Ronson teamed up to create an unforgettable summer anthem dubbed 'Suzanne'. Little did ray- Raye knew that the name of the tune shared a striking connection with Suzanne Audemars, a pivotal figure in Audemars Piguet's history.
On a fateful studio session, Raye felt an inexplicable connection to the title. She was astounded to learn later that Suzanne Audemars was a widowed mother from the brand's past, who encouraged her children to pursue watchmaking following her husband’s passing. Their establishment of the esteemed haute horologie brand was the birthplace of Audemars Piguet as we know it today.
With one serendipitous playback of 'Suzanne' in the Vinyl Factory at 180 Studios on the Strand, Raye felt the stars aligned.
Raye and Ronson had never collaborated before, yet their musical chemistry felt almost predestined. Fans owe the musical union to Audemars Piguet's continuous partnership with the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Although Ronson has been part of the AP family since 2022, Raye secured a slot in their music program following a captivating 2024 Montreaux performance.
'My family are Swiss,' Raye reminisced, 'and I got to perform in front of my grandad for the first time that night. I was emotional - my whole family was crying!'
The multi-location sessions for 'Suzanne' took place in London, New York, and Los Angeles, with the duo hinting at a few more undiscovered tracks in the offing.
Ronson gushed about Raye’s artistry, praising her development from songwriter to powerhouse artist. "When Audemars Piguet brought us together, it felt like the stars aligning at exactly the right moment," he said.
Raye admitted to once being an aspiring songwriter working in Ronson's studio. She observed the rumor mill spinning tales of Ronson’s unique habits, like "Mark Ronson only rides around in black cabs." The chance to create music together was a dream come true.
'Suzanne' is set to release on June 13, 2025.
